NIH — Short-Term Research Training Grant
| The NIH Short-Term Research Training Grant (STRTG) program is intended to provide an introductory biomedical research experience for students during the summer between their first and second year of medical school.
Each February, Dr. Savoia conducts an orientation to the Program for first year students. Following this orientation, students are able to obtain forms from this website to submit with their proposal to the STRTG Executive Review Committee. They are also able to view a directory of faculty who have volunteered to work with students and their projects during the summer. Each April, the Review Committee meets to select the proposals to be funded for the upcoming summer.
The Program typically begins in early June and ends in early September. A stipend (approximately $1,731.00 per month) is provided, and additional funds for lab and other expenses are also available. In addition, students who later present their NIH summer project at a conference may qualify for travel funds.
