Web Portal - Calendars
The Web Portal contains calendars for first and second year medical students, student life, and a series of free clinic calendars. Calendar Views
The default calendar view displays the current month. The weekly view and daily view can be accessed using the calendar tabs (see image below). In addition, you may switch to the day view by clicking the magnifying glass
next to the date in any week or month view.![]()
Next to events that have been updated you will see a tiny colored dot ranging from yellow to red. If you hover your mouse over this dot, a tool-tip will appear displaying when the event was last updated. As displayed in the key under the Settings/Categories tab and replicated below, these indicators illustrate the events that have been updated and may require attention, particularly if you previously downloaded calendar data.
Note that if you previously exported event data and discover a single event which has changed, you may export a single event for import to your preferred calendar application.
Navigating the Calendar
Just above the calendar tabs you will find a drop down with a range of months and years to allow you to quickly jump to a desired month. Once you make your selection, the calendar will automatically jump to the selected month. Thre is also a field into which you may enter a specific date in the format mm/dd/yyyy. Click the Go button to jump to the desired date. The Return to Today link will also bring you back to the current day in the default (month) view.
To view an event details, click the event title within any view. If you are in the weekly or daily view and you click a time block with multiple events, the details for the first event within the block will be displayed.
Calendar Settings/Categories
The Settings/Categories tab opens a panel which allows you to specify which categories will be shown on the calendar. Click the checkbox next to each desired category. Click Finished to return to your previous calendar view and note that the calendar should be updated with your new settings. Your calendar settings are saved with each change and will be loaded the next time you return.
Agenda/List View
The Agenda/List View tab will display a list of events for the month, day or week currently being viewed. Each event includes a colored cell to indicate the related category. A link to export the agenda view in Excel format is also provided.
Printing Calendars
The Print tab will launch an external browser window which is optimized for printability. The print view will match the current calendar view. For example, to launch the month version of the print view first click the Month View tab and then the Print tab.
Creating an Event
You may have access to post events to one or more categories. Students can generally add to the Student Events category. To add an event click the +symbol next to a date in the month view. A panel will appear (see image to the right) containing a form for entering your event details.
- If you have access to more than one category, you must choose the category from the select drop-down.
- A short descriptive title is required.
- Choose either Normal or All Day. If you choose All Day the Start and End fields will disappear.
- Enter a location. You may enter a building name such as MTF 163 or an address. If you enter an address you may click the create google map link to generate a link to a google map. If you choose to do this you should click the preview link which will launch an external browser window allowing you to preview the resulting map. If necessary, make adjustments to the map, and click Link to this page, then copy and paste the URL from the address field in your browser into the map field in the event panel.
- Enter a longer description with additional details.
- Click Save to save the event to the calendar.
- Review your event to make sure it appears correctly within the calendar.
Editing or Deleting Events
You may only edit or delete an event which you created or to which you have been granted administrative rights.
- Click an event title to display the pop-up event detail panel.
- If you have edit privileges you will see an Edit button, click Edit.
- Make any adjustments to the event details you would like and click Save.
