Web Portal - ForumMail

The MedEd Student Web Portal includes >50 discussion forums on a wide variety of topics. Users can easily browse through the forums using the pull-down menus at the top of the forum page.

Users may also choose to subscribe to one or more forums and receive an email whenever a new message is posted to their favorite discussion. Subscription / unsubscription is very dynamic and users can turn this feature on / off any time they choose. For example, when you are traveling and picking up email remotely, you may choose to unsubscribe and decrease the number of messages in your Inbox. When you return, it is simple to restart any subscription of your interest.

The process to subscribe / unsubscribe is very easy; it can be done by one of two methods.

Method One - for changing one forum at one time

  1. Login to the Student Web Portal and look at the Student Life Forum.
  2. In the upper right corner of the forum is a sentence that reads:

ForumMail is: Off   [ turn on ]   OR   ForumMail is: On   [ turn off ]

  3. Make your choice to turn on / off that particular forum (only) and the change will take place immediately.
  4. Navigate to any other forum you wish to modify and make the changes as needed.

Method Two - for multiple forums at one time

  1. Login to the Student Web Portal.
  2. In the upper right corner of the forum is a sentence that reads:

ForumMail is: Off   [ turn on ]   OR   ForumMail is: On   [ turn off ]

  3. This time, click on the ForumMail and the "ForumMail Settings" window will pop up listing all the forums with checkboxes next to them.
  4. Click the checkbox next to any forum(s) for which you would like to receive email message copies of the postings. Remove the check next to any forum(s) for which you would no longer like to receive email messages.
  5. Click the Submit ForumMail Settings button when you have completed making your selections.
